Jesca Hoop

Jesca Hoop is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist, a Californian who is now an adopted daughter of Manchester. Her career has spanned many albums of finely crafted song writing, sung from a unique intelligence and an unparalleled voice, culminating in 2017’s hugely acclaimed ‘Memories are Now’.

Her enchanting art-folk can be placed somewhere alongside Kate Bush, Joanna Newsom, and Feist, yet Jesca Hoop—who has collaborated with Peter Gabriel and Andrew Bird—has long since created a universe of her own.

Her outstanding new album Long Wave Home leans more toward chamber music than pop: rich, intricate, and full of plucked and bowed string instruments. “You are not alone,” she sings in the title track. “Long waves will carry you home.” In the distance, the ocean roars, and a radio tower sends out mysterious signals.
