David Shaw and the Beat

There is no mythology left to summon, no ghosts of the past to recall, no flames to rekindle. There remains only one duel: that between lukewarm music and instinctive, pure music, which comes from the soul and heals personal chaos.

It is this second path that David Shaw follows—an artist for whom there is no Plan B and no compromise, only the necessity of setting his guts on fire in a recorded production that stands as one of the most personal and searing on today’s scene. Born in Manchester and indelibly marked by the countercultures that shaped his adolescence (rave, punk, garage), Shaw has made it his mission to create music outside established formats and off the beaten path.
