Jeanne Added doesn't need to say too much to offer much. This has always been the case, right from her debut album Be Sensational, released in 2015. Since then, the French musician has defended it at length on stage, recorded a second album, Radiate, proving that the public's crush turned into a lasting love affair. Then she went on tour again and made a short film, Air, in which she sang in French for the first time.
It is therefore natural that we hear her again here in French: her poetry, both intimate and political, is distilled in the furrows of By Your Side. Because Jeanne likes contrasts, the legendary Linn LM-1 drum machine used by Prince is used on the album, which is also inspired by her admiration for the songwriting of Joni Mitchell and the jazz of Keith Jarrett, during his "live at Blue Note" period, when he cultivated "an essence, songs that are concentrated and necessary.
